Why have Pre-Surgical Bariatric Psychological Evaluation
Your insurance company requires it
It is required by your surgeon as part of the surgical process.
To better understand your eating triggers, behavioral challenges, and barriers, and develop a plan to support post-surgical success.
To explore the psychological, behavioral, and relational impacts surgery may have on your life.
To have professional support to help you prepare for surgery with confidence.
What Does the Evaluation Involve?
The Evaluation Consists Of Three Parts:
01
You will meet with a licensed psychologist for a 45-minute clinical interview focused on behavioral patterns, psychiatric symptoms, and understanding of the surgical process. In complex cases, a second interview may be required.
Clinical Interview
02
Standardized assessments of personality, mood, and cognitive functioning are completed to gather detailed clinical information. These results are combined with the interview to prepare a comprehensive evaluation report.
Psychological Testing & Report
03
A feedback session is typically scheduled about one week after testing to review results and clinical recommendations. This session lasts approximately 25 minutes. The final report is then sent to your physician within 7–10 business days.
